TOY RUN 2017 – AN INVITATION TO ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE ….

Every year at the end of November, tens of thousands of motorcyclists from Clubs and their Chapters across the country (and in many parts of the world) rally together at central points to give some joy to needy children in our communities. This very proud tradition has been supporting children for over 35 years. In the Southern Cape the event is hosted by the South Western District Motorcycling Association (SWDMCA) and, in turn, supported by many Clubs and members of the public in general .Every year this event is moved across the larger towns on the Garden Route and this year will be held in Mossel Bay . (see poster appended )

As a totally charity based event, we as organizers are totally dependent on the support of the general public and in particular the business and tourism community of (especially ) Mossel Bay, George, and surrounds and we are urgently requesting donations of prizes and , of course, the goodies for the children .

Traditionally toys and especially teddy bears were strapped to motorcycles… of late, however, the focus has moved away from the traditional bears to a more practical application of the gifts . Urgently needed are feminine items for girls, general toiletries , stationary, educational toys, sports goods , books and cds ,school bags, satchels and rucksacks …apart from general toys .

The need is great enough for us to also gratefully accept second hand items in good condition … one only has to consider what the costs are of keeping a child in school! The organizing TOY RUN Committee of 2016 were shocked at the news that children in a local home were sharing a tooth brush!… the facility in question was simply overwhelmed by the influx of children and the escalating costs !

We will also welcome cash donations …every year it becomes increasingly difficult to host this event .Our banking details are CAPITEC BANK , ACCOUNT NO:1547749626 (SAVINGS ) ACCOUNT NAME :TOY RUN . Should you wish we will collect any goods etc which you may wish to donate apart from what you donate on the day as an “entrance fee”. All are welcome including non bikers!

We thank you in advance for your acceptance of this invitation and hope to see you on Sunday 26th November 2017 !

MOSSEL BAY WHEELS GATHERING 2017

Due to popular demand from both vehicle owners & visitors alike, it gives me great pleasure to announce the second official Mossel Bay Wheels Gathering to be hosted in Mossel Bay on the 16th Dec.2017.

I am very happy to announce too, that a sponsor in the form of Ravenol Oil SA, has come on board in order to lighten the financial burden in organising this event. The Managing Director of Ravenol Oil SA, Mr Freddi Stafford, will also be present on the day.

Not to be confused with car shows per sé as hosted in neighbouring towns such as George & Knysna, MBWG is an informal gathering of people with unusual/rare and special vehicles.

A gathering for the enthusiast – people that are crazy about anything with wheels, regardless of age, model, make, condition or value…So-called petrol heads!

From classic & vintage cars to beach buggies, motorcycles and the younger generations’ customised sedans. An odd vintage tractor or two can even be expected…

The format of this gathering will be as follows:
It is an informal gathering of owners with out-of-the-ordinary / rare / special vehicles on static display. Any such vehicle owner is welcome to enter & attend.

No entry fees are charged for either private entrant or visitor to this gathering. However, donations to a charitable organisation, are accepted. A marked box for this purpose will be at the registration gazebo.

An added new feature of this gathering will be Stalls selling vehicle related products only. Interested parties should contact the organizer a.s.a.p.

Attendance Certificates will be handed out to every entrant on the day, along with some sponsored items.

No open fires or ‘braai’ equipment will be allowed into the Park area for obvious safety reasons.

Due to the fact that the park has no trees or shading, entrants are encouraged to bring along sun umbrellas, gazebos & camping chairs.

Although close to the malls amenities, portable toilets will be provided for the event.
Two floating trophies & five other trophies to be awarded at end of the event as well as beautiful prizes in lucky draws & main raffle draw.

Timely registration is compulsory due to increasing interest, the adding of stalls & limited space.

Venue:
The open, banked Municipal Park across the way from Mossel Baai Mall. (Cnr. Melkhout & Seder Streets, Heiderand.)

Very central. Walking distance to dining places, steakhouses, take-away café’s, ATM’s, supermarket, liquor outlets, hardware store and for refuelling at the local Shell Service Station.

Direction Signs will be posted from Cape Town side coming in on the N2, as well as from Mossel Bay town centre side.

Date:
Saturday 16th December 2017. D.V.

Times:
Gates open by 06h30. Vehicles to be in place by latest 08h30 please.
Premises cleared again by no later than 17h00.

Prize giving ceremony, lucky draws & raffle draw at 15h00 sharp.

DANABAAI INWONERSVERENIGING

Zachie Steyn, Russel Hendry, Twana Roets, Hans Viljoen, Gaby Drews.

P. utriculus verskyn gereeld in swerms.

16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM

FOCUS ON THE WELLBEING OF OUR COMMUNITY

Mossel Bay Municipality and the Department of Health is planning a Wellness Event for 28 & 29 November 2017 at the D`Almeida Civic Centre.

You are hereby cordially invited to join in the activities of the day(s). You will be awarded an opportunity to exhibit your product/service at an `exhibitor-stand”. This exhibition will be informally conducted and can take on the form of free evaluations and/or tests. You may also hand out information brochures, pamphlets on the special offers, samples of product, etc. Although this may also result in public exposure in the media, you will not be allowed to sell anything.

This is an opportunity to assist the Municipality and the Department of Health problems that employees may not be aware of, and promoting products/service which may improve these.

Should you be interested to participate, book a stand with Ms A Kritzinger (akritzinger@mosselbay.gov.za or 044 606-5251) on or before 14 November 2017 and complete the attached form to provide us with extended details on your planned exhibition. Should you require privacy of any sort, you will have to provide the partitions yourselves.

We are looking forward to partnering with your company in making a drastic contribution towards the improvement and preservation of the physical and well-being of our employees.
