APPLY NOW FOR FESTIVE SEASON TRADING ON SIDEWALKS, PUBLIC SPACES IN CBD

Business owners in the designated areas in the Central Business District of Mossel Bay who want to trade on sidewalks and public spaces as allowed in terms of the Municipality’s Policy on Outdoor Dining and Trading in the Mossel Bay CBD, need to apply as soon as possible if they want to be ready for this for the coming year-end holiday season.
In terms of the policy, business owners must apply to the Municipality at least 90 days before they want to start trading on sidewalks and public spaces adjoining their properties.

The policy, which is an outcome of the urban renewal plan for the old Central Business District, is applicable to sections of Marsh Street, Cuff Street, Michell Street, Kloof Street, Bland Street and Market Street only. It is also only applicable to art and craft shops, art galleries, coffee shops, delicatessens, florists and restaurants.
The trading area needs to comply with the policy requirements and will be leased to the applicant for a period of three years. Certain tariffs are payable and a lease agreement has to be signed.
One of the requirements is that an application has to be accompanied by a recommendation from Heritage Mossel Bay via the Aesthetics Committee.

Applications have to be submitted to the Director of Community Services at the Municipality. Enquiries about the policy as well as the application requirements can be addressed to Ms Lanese Hesselman at telephone (044) 606-5151 or by e-mail to lhesselman@mosselbay.gov.za or admin@mosselbay.gov.za. The policy can also be viewed on the Municipality’s website at www.mosselbay.gov.za.
