FOURTH FRAGRANCE FEST

Saturday 3 March provides the perfect opportunity for families, friends and groups to explore the charming Fragrance Route, a circular country meander close to Great Brak. Since first launched in 2015 this annual celebration has grown by leaps and bounds – this year there are 10 venues to visit, all open until 16h00 or later (except for the museum).

Travel at leisure while enjoying vistas of fynbos-covered countryside and majestic mountains. Great for game spotting, bird watching and photography; you can also cycle or visit by motor bike.

Book in advance for birding at Brothers Coffee Roastery, the Hakuna Matata “Hap & Stap”, and the Kobus Halliday Car Museum tour. There are foodie and art demonstrations, and also music at two spots. Check the different opening times and details of participating venues, and plan your trip accordingly!

Make it a PROE safari – stop to buy local products and experience a variety of tastes along the way. At game farm Hakuna Matata and at Die Kraal in Friemersheim you can picnic under the trees – buy food at their stalls, and bring along your own picnic blanket, wine and glasses.

Best to arrive early with a cooler bag for goodies bought along the way, a container with water to keep flowers fresh, and an umbrella in case of rain. Toilets are available at almost all venues and, in case of bad weather, indoor facilities as well.

Please note: CASH ONLY, no credit cards are accepted at Fest stalls.

SHWESHWE STOP @ FRIEMERSHEIM: View the exciting range of shweshwe articles – PROE bags, aprons, doggy bandanas, Munchbags and more – now made by The Friemersheim Sewing Group and Kraal Kreations at Die Kraal. This recently launched project aims to bring job opportunities close to home for a number of local women.
