GARDEN ROUTE CASINO STAFF HONOUR MADIBA

Nelson Mandela International Day is marked every year on the 18th of July by people around the world devoting 67 minutes of their time – one minute for every year of Madiba’s public service – to making a difference in their communities.

Golden Route Casino staff enjoyed devoting their 67 Mandela Day minutes to residents at The Haven Night Shelter.
This year, staff from Garden Route Casino chose to spend that time with those staying at The Haven Night Shelter in Mossel Bay, which provides temporary shelter, physical care, social welfare and family reunification services to the homeless. While they were there, they handed out food and toiletries.

Garden Route Casino HR manager, Chandika Hoolblal shares: “Most of us are all too familiar with the sight of homeless people sleeping on the streets, begging at traffic lights or pushing shopping trolleys filled with all of their possessions, but how many of us actually speak to them? Our time with the people at the Shelter gave us a new perspective on homelessness as well as enormous gratitude for what we are so fortunate to have.”
She concludes: “The Garden Route Casino is synonymous with making people happy and we hope that we did just that at The Haven Night Shelter. (The Gremlin)
