The Dana Bay Conservancy wish to thank the following businesses and individuals for their contribution to a very successful talk, The Adventures of Shogan, on the 6 May 2015.

Julie Retief (Mossview) for sponsoring the advertising posters. Ds Thys Blaauw opened the evening with an appropriate prayer and scripture reading. Marie de Klerk, Miriam and Luzette Jacobs (ACVV) did the catering and cleaning. Bill and Jannine Frost sponsored the soup.

Estelle McIlrath shared her amazing story with us and made us all relive the filming of the movie with her. The movie, In Wilderness and Desert, won five international awards. Estelle’s Great Dane, Shogan, featured as one of the main actors. Linda and Jan (Danabaai Slaghuis) prepared and sponsored her beautifully wrapped gift.

The Photographic Competition was a huge success and 49 photographs were received. Thank you all the estate agents for hosting the collection points. Thank you to Val Smith, Colleen Putter and Yvonne vd Linde for co-ordinating the competition. Cobus Brink judged and selected the winning photo’s and reminded us not to get emotionally involved with our subject but to focus on the theme of the competition – “Scenic Dana Bay”. Congratulations to Angie Gomes the winner of this competition, prize donated by Twana Roets. V Krynauw was the runner up, prize donated by RealNet and Garnet van der Walt came in third (prize donated by KS Builders) with an honourable mention in 4th as well. Congratulations, well done and thank you for your amazing photos.

Carol Walton (SAPREC) was handed a donation from the Conservancy and thanked for the amazing work she has done with her Rehabilitation Centre. She was congratulated on the two penguin chicks. (They are both flourishing).
Congratulations to the Chairmen, Willie Claassen and Aleck Birch, for hosting a very entertaining evening even with our ever problematic load-shedding!
